The experience my 13 year old niece had with Tatha was inexcusable. Tatha is clearly inept when it comes to being sensitive, willing to listen, and knowing how to support her patients. Im not sure where she attended school but she might need to add some further education to her resume.
My niece was there for a consultation for medication recommended by her child therapist. She is currently being seen for trauma and child neglect and is very vulnerable. Instead of addressing the matter at hand, Tatha focused in on my nieces weight. Not that it matters, but just for perspective, my niece is maybe 20lbs above normal. Tatha went on and on about how my niece, a 13 yr old child, needed to get her weight under control. Tatha could see that my niece was upset, but didnt stop, talked over my nieces father, and continued to shame and humiliate her. My niece cried for over 4 hours after the appointment. 4 hours. This will forever be stuck in her mind when she thinks of her self worth and how she feels about her body. All from an ill equipped professional who is clearly not the person to go to for direction or help. What child or adult would respond to that approach? I dont know one.
Being that Tatha is just a physicians assistant, we complained to the main Doctor. Tatha was asked to apologize which she chose to do by text. Not even a phone call. Her apology was insincere and basically apologized that my niece and her father felt bad.
She is clearly incompetent when it comes to handling anything more than a sore throat. As a woman and fellow medical professional, I could not be more disappointed in Tatha.
