Recipe Details:
This is a diabetic-friendly recipe for a cheeseburger infused with aromatic champignon mushrooms. These burgers don’t take long to prepare and they very tender and flavorful. Cook them once and you will be asked to do it again!


Ingredients:
  • Lean beef (95%) or pork filet – 2 lbs.
  • Champignon mushrooms – ½ lb.
  • Low-sodium cheese – 5 slices
  • Onion (finely chopped) – 1
  • Large tomato (sliced)– 1
  • Lettuce leaves – 5
  • Pickles (sliced) – 2
  • Whole wheat buns – 5
  • Butter – 1 tbsp.
  • Salt – to taste
  • Dried thyme – 1 tsp.
  • Vegetable oil for frying
    Recipe Directions:
    Step 1
    Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onion until soft over high heat (about 2 minutes).
    Step 2
    Boil the mushrooms for 5 minutes and chop them finely.
    Step 3
    Pass the meat through a meat grinder. Combine the meat, mushrooms, and the fried onion. Add thyme and salt. Mix well. Form 5 patties from the mixture.
    Step 4
    Cook the burgers in a frying pan, at full power, in vegetable oil, for about 5 minutes per side, until the meat juice is no longer pink.
    Step 5
    After turning over the burgers, warm the buns on the frying pan, over medium heat, for a few minutes.
    Step 6
    Remove the buns from the frying pan. Put the lettuce leaves on the bottom buns. Put the burgers on top. Then put the cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers on top of the burgers. Cover with the top half of the bun. Enjoy!
